Everything posted in this blog is directly from the mind of a woman who is dangerously close to going overdue with her fourth child, who just so happens to the first girl in a family with three boys. Any sane parts left in me are 100% nervous about having a girl, which is probably why she hasn’t decided to be born yet.

Posts added in the following days, weeks, and months will probably not reflect the true feelings of this blogger, as they will be skewed by the induction of an infant, a huge hormonal shift, sleep deprivation, and the devastating realization that bodies are a lot like balloons: Blow them up and deflate them to many times, and you’ll be left with a sad looking, wrinkly mess that is double it’s original size. Anything I post will not be credible or sane, and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Thank you. H

PS: If any one has a magical way to induce labor that does not involve: Walking, sex, nipple stimulation, oregano, basil, cumin, red leaf-tea, evening prim-rose oil, warm baths, or grotesque amounts of pineapple, YOU HAD BETTER LEAVE A POST!

You are hilarious! You will LOVE having a daughter, I totally guarantee it. They are so awesome and radically different from the boys.

Thank you so much for the encouragement! I am so excited to meet her, but nervous, nervous, nervous, too. I think the world of my boys, even when they act like they’ve gotten into the wild-monkey-juice. It’s hard to imagine loving someone who is radically different from them, just as much…

for starters, it’s WAY easier from the start because they have less going on in the diaper area to worry about if you know what i mean. ;)

and if you can overlook the very opinionated personality she will most surely have (aren’t all us women very sure of what we think?) she will be a welcome calm in the boy storm–at least that’s how i feel!

    see you tonight…

I’ve thought so many times, now that I have all these boys, would I really ever want a girl? I’m sure I would get used to the idea eventually. :) I’m anxious to hear about all the changes you and your family are going through as you get to know this little one.

As far as inducing labor, I wish I had some encouraging advice. I was horribly overdue with all three and I tried everything. With the first pregnancy I ran up and down 8 flights of stairs because my husband told me that his mom went into labor with him while she was running down stairs during a fire drill. In the end I was exhausted and having contractions, but it was only my body telling me what an idiot I was. I didn’t have the baby for more than a week after that. :(

Make an important appointment for about four days from now. Something you really don’t want to miss. Like a prenatal spa day.

Oooh, speaking of spa days — foot massage can do it. Go get a pedicure and tell them to NOT go easy on your feet!

I have been slow looking at Bloglines so being that this post is 5 days old now so I am guessing that my advice comes too late. Hopefully you have had her by now and are happily enjoying some quiet time with your daughter.

However my wife and I tried many ways to help things along, the only one you seem to have missed is spicy curry. I am sure that most of them are apocryphal and have only had success based on the fact that they are practiced by people that are already overdue.

    Hey
My mom took a tablespoon of caster oil and 5 hrs later my sister was born. the rules for caster oil are asfollows
    1. take in early AM otherwise you will be up in the middle of the night
    2. The taste and smell are bad so it may make you vomit
    3. you must be at least 2-3 cm dialated or else you are just sick to your tummy without any progress.
    4. Caster oil starts contractions but you already need to be dialating or it’s pointless.
    Hope all is well.
